The diverse waters around the Valemount and Mount Robson area are perfect opportunities for fishing on pristine lakes and rivers. Popular spots like Yellowhead Lake, Kinbasket Lake and Moose Lake are home to rainbow trout, lake trout, bull trout, kokanee, lingcod and whitefish. Portal and Whitney Lakes provide reliable rainbow trout catches. Between Tete Jaune and Mount Robson, you can easily access the Fraser River, which is an ideal spot for shoreline fishing. A fishing license is required.

Chinook Salmon Run

View the incredible Chinook salmon run in the Valemount and Mount Robson area. Each year approximately in August, these fish swim upstream along the Fraser River to Swift Creek to spawn. One of the best places to witness this spectacle is Rearguard Falls, just 24 km northeast of Valemount. You can also visit George Hicks Regional Park, where interpretive programs are available at the Valemount Visit Center.
